HC Deb 20 June 1921 vol 143 cc883-4
42. Sir WILLIAM DAVISON

asked the Prime Minister whether he will see that an opportunity is found in the course of the forthcoming Imperial Conference with the Dominion Prime Ministers to secure their approval to an urgently needed amendment of the British Nationality Act of 1914, to enable the children of British subjects of British blood resident abroad to be recognised as British citizens, although born in a foreign country of a father who was not himself born within His Majesty's allegiance but is of full British blood?

The PRIME MINISTER

I can add nothing to the answers already given to my hon. Friend in reply to questions on this subject.

Sir W. DAVISON

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the Home Secretary said the arrangements of the agenda was not a matter for him, but for the Prime Minister, and can he say if he will, informally at any rate, consult the Dominion Prime Ministers upon a matter on which they are certain to agree, and it is only a question of securing their approval?

The PRIME MINISTER

We shall be discussing the agenda to-morrow, and I will call their attention to it.
