HC Deb 15 June 1921 vol 143 c384
8. Mr. BRIANT

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if a delegation has been, or is to be, sent to Russia with a view to ascertaining the prospects of trade with this country?

Sir P. LLOYD-GREAME (Secretary, Overseas Trade Department)

An official delegation will shortly be sent to Russia in accordance with Article 5 of the Trade Agreement.

Mr. BRIANT

Will the hon. Gentleman secure that the majority understand Russian, as it is most important in the interests of trade that those who understand Russian should go?

Sir P. LLOYD-GREAME

I have already answered that question on another occasion. All those selected for this Mission have a full knowledge of the Russian language, and speak and write it, and have a full knowledge of Russian conditions from their experience in Russia.
