Whelan, of Bally-rowan, the one in connection with the murder of Mr. Lawless, or Maryborough, the two in connection with the murder of Mr. Prendergast, of Carrysville Island, and the two others stated on 28th April to be in custody on charges of murder, have yet been tried, and with what result; and with what crimes these two last are alleged to have been concerned?

Mr. HENRY

It is expected that the two members of the Crown forces arrested in connection with the murder of J. Whelan and the two others stated on 28th April to be in custody on a charge of murder will be tried within the next few days. The two latter are charged with the murder of Patrick Howard. The trial for the homicide of Thomas Lawless has resulted in the acquittal of the accused on the murder charge. The result as regards the manslaughter charge will be announced in due course. The evidence as to the two members of the Crown forces in custody in connection with the murder of Mr. Prendergast is at present under consideration.
