§ 77. Mr. HANNONasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he can assign the exact causes of the increases of the rates on Government property from £789,000 in the financial year 1913–14 to the estimated amount of £2,475,000 in the current financial year?
Mr. YOUNGThe increase is due to (a) the greater number and extent of properties now occupied by the Government as compared with 1913–14; and (b) the great rise that has occurred in the poundage of local rates since that year.
