HC Deb 09 June 1921 vol 142 c2059
88. Sir W. de FRECE

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department the nature of his latest advices with regard to the trade in China in Lancashire cotton goods; and whether there is any noticeable return of commercial stability?

Mr. BALDWIN

There is some evidence of a revival of demand for Lancashire cotton goods in China, and of an increasing ability of Chinese firms to take delivery of goods ordered by them. There is reason to believe that this improvement should continue, but it is not possible as yet to make any definite statement on the subject.
