HC Deb 28 February 1921 vol 138 cc1398-9
59. Sir F. HALL

asked the Minister of Transport what is the estimated deficiency on the railways which will have to be made good by the Government in respect of the period from the date of the introduction of the increased rates and the handing back of the lines to the companies; and if it is proposed to meet this deficit by increased rates or from taxation?

Sir E. GEDDES

This cannot conveniently be dealt with in question and answer, and I must ask the hon. Member to await for the Debate on the Estimates.
