§ 33. Lieut. - Colonel Sir RAYMOND GREENEasked the Prime Minister whether his attention has been called to a statement to the effect that a proposal has been put forward by the First Commissioner of Works for the employment of direct labour on the upkeep and repairs of public buildings, instead of having the work performed by contract, as hitherto; and whether, seeing that this proposal would entail a considerable increase in the personnel of the Works Department, he will give the House of Commons an opportunity of debating the scheme before it is adopted?
§ The PRIME MINISTERThere is no intention of proceeding further with the proposal referred to in the first part of my hon. and gallant Friend's question. The second part therefore does not arise.
