HC Deb 28 February 1921 vol 138 c1385
5. Mr. DOYLE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether financial assistance was given to the British potash industry during the War; if so, on what grounds; and whether any such assistance is being afforded to the industry to-day?

Sir R. HORNE

Some financial assistance was given during the War to the British potash industry, because an increased production of potash in this country was required in the interests of agriculture and of various manufactures such as optical glass and certain chemicals.
