HC Deb 25 February 1921 vol 138 c1379

Motion made, and Question proposed,

"That a sum, not exceeding £20,000, be granted to His Majesty, to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1921, for Expenditure in connection with temporary measures for the relief of distress caused by the Flood at Louth."
Sir D. MACLEAN

I have no intention whatever to offer any opposition to this Vote, but rise to suggest that if it goes through now the Government should be content with it and should not proceed with the next Vote which is for a very large amount, though I do not think as it stands it is a particularly contentious one. But having so large an amount as £350,000 I do not think it ought to be passed almost sub silentio a few-minutes before the House rises. I suggest that we should take the Vote now before the Committee, and then report Progress.
