HC Deb 21 February 1921 vol 138 cc529-30
58. Captain LOSEBY

asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been called to the announcement of the directors of the North British Railway Company that, owing to the action of the Minister in stopping a large sum of money, they were compelled to withhold payment of the dividend on their deferred stock; and if he will offer any explanation for thus embarrassing the company?

Sir E. GEDDES

I must refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave to the right hon. Gentleman the Member for Derby, on the 17th instant. I have laid the papers for the information of hon. Members and they are available, I understand, at the Vote Office.

Captain LOSEBY

I want to ask only whether this company has any surplus funds created during the War from which dividends might be paid?

Sir E. GEDDES

I think all that information will be obtainable from the Paper which I have laid.
