HC Deb 17 February 1921 vol 138 c238
4. Mr. PENNEFATHER

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland why, in the official Reports of ambushes of police in Ireland, no mention is made of armoured protection for cars and lorries; and what per centage of police cars and lorries have, in fact, been provided with armoured protection?

The CHIEF SECRETARY for IRELAND (Colonel Sir Hamar Greenwood)

It is obviously undesirable in the interests of the police themselves that I should make public the information asked for in my hon. Friend's question: but I can assure him that no effort is being spared to afford the greatest possible protection to men engaged on dangerous patrol duties in disaffected or disturbed areas. The number of armoured cars is increasing every week.
