Mr. SPEAKER informed the House that he had received the following letters relating to the arrest and imprisonment of Members:

Sir,

I have the honour to report that Constance Georgina, Countess Marchievicz, M.P. for St. Patrick's Division, in the county of the city of Dublin, Ireland, was tried by general court-martial at Dublin on the 2nd December, 1920, on a charge under Regulation 67 of the R.O.I.R. The accused was found guilty of the charge and sentenced to two years' imprisonment with hard labour.

I have the honour to report that on the 8th day of January, 1921, Mr. F. Lynch, M.P. for Kerry, was arrested under a direction issued by me as Competent Military Authority, under the Defence of the Realm Regulations, and was committed to His Majesty's prison at Ballsbridge.

I have the honour to report that Mr. J. J. Walsh, M.P. for Cork City, who was tried by general court-martial at Dublin, on 28th March, 1919, for an offence against Regulation 42 of the Defence of the Realm Regulations and found guilty, and sentenced on such date to five years' penal servitude, but who before promulgation thereof escaped from Mountjoy Prison, Dublin, and remained at large, was re-arrested in Cork on 4th instant.

The above general court-martial proceedings were duly promulgated to him at His Majesty's prison for males, Cork, on 11th instant, and he was on 14th instant removed hence to Wormwood Scrubbs Prison to serve his above sentence.

It is not proposed to prosecute him in respect of his escape from Mountjoy Prison.

Mr. Thomas Desmond Fitzgerald, M.P. for Pembroke Constituency, Dublin, was arrested under a direction issued by me as Competent Military Authority, under the Defence of the Realm Regulations, and was committed to His Majesty's prison, Kilmainham.
