§ 52. Mr. HURDasked the Prime Minister if the Government has considered the proposals of the Imperial Maritime Conference respecting the limitation by clauses in bills of lading of shipowners' liability for carriers' risks; and whether, in view of the serious losses from theft and pilferage, legislation will be proposed in the present Session?
§ Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSONI have been asked to reply. The Report of the Imperial Shipping Committee on the limitation of shipowners' liability is being considered, but in the present state of public business 1874 there is little prospect of legislation on the subject being introduced this Session.
