HC Deb 18 April 1921 vol 140 cc1498-9
3. Major MACKENZIE WOOD

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether any and, if so, what amount of coal has been exported from France during the months of January, February, and March; to what countries it has been exported; what is the price per ton; and whether any of this coal was coal delivered under the Spa Agreement?

The SECRETARY for MINES (Mr. Bridgeman)

The amount of coal exported from France during January, 1921, was 46,338 metric tons. Of this, 33,271 tons were exported to Luxemburg, 4,650 tons to Switzerland, 836 tons to Belgium, 636 tons to Italy, 76 tons to Spain, and the balance to other countries. I regret that particulars for February and March are not yet available. The current price per ton of the coal exported cannot be stated, nor is it known whether any coal delivered to France under the Spa Agreement has been sold abroad, but there is nothing to prevent France exporting such coal.
