HC Deb 13 April 1921 vol 140 c1109
64. Mr. J. JONES

asked the Chief Secretary whether it is by order of the authorities that the street lamps of Thurles are kept lit all night; and, if so, will the Crown pay the lighting charges?

Mr. HENRY

As regards the first part of the question, I am informed that no orders have been issued by the Crown authorities that the street lamps of Thurles are to remain lighted all night. The second part of the question, therefore, does not arise.

Mr. JONES

Does the right hon. Gentleman suggest that the local authorities keep the street lamps lit all night for fun?

Mr. HENRY

No orders have been issued by the Crown forces, and they are not responsible.
