§ 39. Mr. KENNEDYasked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the present wide-spread industrial distress through unemployment, and the general endeavour on the part of employers to reduce wages, it is proposed to suspend the provisions of the Rent Restriction Act empowering house owners to increase rants by 10 per cent?
§ The MINISTER of HEALTH (Sir A. Mond)I have been asked to reply to this question. The suspension of the provisions of the Rent Restriction Act of last year referred to in the question would, in any case, require legislation, which the Government cannot undertake to introduce.
