§ 85. Mr. CHARLES EDWARDSasked the President of the Board of Education whether he is aware that Monday, 2nd May, will be observed as a general holiday by all workers, and that in many places sports and pastimes have been arranged on the assumption that the schools should be closed, and that in any case large numbers of children will be absent on that day; and whether, seeing that the Monmouthshire Education Committee has decided that the schools shall be open, will he take steps to counteract that decision and secure that it shall be observed as a holiday for all children who attend elementary schools?
§ Mr. FISHERI have no power to require a local education authority to close its schools on any particular day.
