4. Sir J. D. REES

asked the Secretary of State for India whether the possession of Bolshevik money has been made illegal in British India?

The SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Mr. Montagu)

The possession of any rouble notes in India Was made illegal by ordinance in 1919 and 1920, and the operation of the ordinance was continued by Act No. XXX. of the latter year.

Sir J. D. REES

Is the right hon. Gentleman in a position to recommend the Government at home to pass a like ordinance or law?

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

In view of the trading agreement which has been signed with Russia, will this Regulation be released in regard to bonâ fide merchants trading with Russia?

Mr. MONTAGU

I think that would depend upon whether we have evidence of a cessation of Bolshevik propaganda in India.
