HC Deb 26 October 1920 vol 133 c1547
33. Major ENTWISTLE

asked the Home Secretary if he is in a position to make any definite statement as to whether the Government intends to adopt the recommendations of the Departmental Committee on Workmen's Compensation with special regard to the claims of the share fishermen?

Mr. SHORTT

I regret I am not in a position to make any definite statement. The question is being carefully considered in consultation with other Departments concerned.

34. Mr. F. HALL

asked the Home Secretary whether he proposes to introduce this Session a Bill embodying the recommendations contained in the Report of the Departmental Committee on Workmen's Compensation?

Mr. SHORTT

The Government are anxious to deal with this subject at the earliest opportunity, but, as the hon. Member knows, the recommendations of the Committee involve important changes in the existing system, and I am afraid it will scarcely be practicable in present circumstances to undertake legislation at this period of the Session.
