HC Deb 26 October 1920 vol 133 cc1537-8
20. Mr. FREDERICK HALL

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he has received a resolution passed by the ratepayers of Yiewsley, Middlesex, protesting against the delay in supplying the need of houses for the district, and asking the War Office to receive a deputation with a view of securing the temporary use of the Stockley camp for housing demobilised sailors and soldiers; and, if so, can he state whether he proposes to take any action in the matter?

Mr. CHURCHILL

A communication has been received from the hon. secretary of the Yiewsley and West Drayton (Uxbridge Division of Middlesex) Tradss Council and Labour Party, forwarding a copy of a resolution with regard to securing the temporary use of West Drayton Plant and Store Depôt, R.A.F., for housing purposes. After careful consideration, it was decided that it was not practicable to permit the residence within the stores depôt of persons over whom the Air Ministry has no authority. The hon. secretary of the Yiewsley and West Drayton Trades Council and Labour Party was so informed by letter on the 18th October.

Mr. MILLS

Would it not be possible to put up a temporary dividing line to the actual buildings?

Mr. CHURCHILL

No.
