HC Deb 26 October 1920 vol 133 cc1515-6
1. Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether a Treaty has been concluded between the Hungarian Government and the Government of the French Republic; whether His Majesty's Government has been informed of its terms; and whether Great Britain participates in this Treaty in any way?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Cecil Harmsworth)

I would refer the hon. and gallant Gentleman to the answer I returned yesterday to a similar question put by the hon. Member for Houghton-le-Spring.

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

In reference to the newspaper report in Vienna, has the Government been informed with reference or otherwise to this alleged treaty between France and the Hungarian Republic?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

We are aware that an official French communiqué was issued in Vienna specially disclaiming this report.

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

Is the hon. Gentleman aware whether that communication did not disclaim the report as given in the Austrian papers, and has the Government any knowledge of any treaty between France and Hungary?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

I think not.
