HC Deb 26 October 1920 vol 133 c1523
19. Mr. JOHN DAVISON

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he has received a petition from the employés of the Army Inspection Department, Allon Road, Small Heath, Birmingham, regarding the decision of the War Office to cease repairing bicycles at this establishment; and whether he can state if he proposes to take any action in the matter?

The PARLIAMENTARY and FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Sir Archibald Williamson)

I regret that the small amount of repair work required for the number of bicycles used by the Army in peace is insufficient to justify the retention of the employés in question. I am informed that the position has been explained to the various classes of employés affected, and that every effort has been made to minimise the hardship involved in individual cases.
