HC Deb 26 October 1920 vol 133 cc1516-7
3. Mr. RAPER

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the Russians who direct the All-Russian Co-operative Society came to this country together with the Russian Economic Mission; for what period their passports have been viséd; how many is the total number of people employed in the All-Russian Co-operative Society; and what business have they transacted in this country?

Mr. KELLAWAY (Secretary, Department of Overseas Trade)

Two of the three directors of the All-Russian Cooperative Society have been domiciled in the United Kingdom for some years. The remaining director, Mr. S. Rosovsky, came with the Russian Trade Delegation, but has now left this country. The question as to the period of his passport does not, therefore, arise. I have no information as to the number of persons employed by the All-Russian Co-operative Society. As regards the business which the society have transacted, I understand that they have entered into negotiations with various firms and that some contracts have been signed for the eventual supply of goods.

Mr. RAPER

Are we to understand that Russian people, and, if so, how many are employed by this Co-operative Society?

Mr. KELLAWAY

I have no information.

Mr. RAPER

Do you know the number of the contracts?

Mr. KELLAWAY

No; I have not that information.
