The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of MUNITIONS (Mr. James Hope)

The headquarters staff of the Ministry numbered 4,585 on the 1st July last, and 3,516 on the 1st instant. The present total is 3,261, which represents a reduction of 1,324 since the 1st July last, and of 21,883 since the Armistice.

Does that number include those who are engaged in factories which have not yet been handed over to the Disposal Board?

Mr. HOPE

No; that refers to the staff.

Mr. KILEY

What staff is occupied in the factories still run by the Ministry of Munitions?

Mr. HOPE

No factories, properly so called, are now run by the Ministry of Munitions. There are a number of stores, but I cannot give the number without notice.

Mr. ROSE

Does that include the staff of the Disposal Board?

Mr. HOPE

Yes.
