HC Deb 30 November 1920 vol 135 c1086
6. Captain TERRELL

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can state the policy of this country and of the Entente with regard to the present position of Armenia; whether the Department has received any information indicating co-operation between the Bolshevists and the Turkish Nationalists; and how the latter are supposed to be supplied with munitions?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

The policy of His Majesty's Government with regard to the present position of Armenia is necessarily dependent, to a large extent, on discussions now taking place at Geneva, and I cannot, therefore, make a statement at this moment. Information has been received of negotiations and agreements for co-operation between the Bolsheviks and Turkish Nationalists, and it is believed that the former have supplied the latter with arms and munitions.

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

Can the hon. Gentleman assure the House that a statement will be made in this House, before any fresh commitments in Armenia are embarked upon?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

I am not in a position to give that undertaking, as my hon. and gallant Friend knows.
