HORNEThe question whether legislation should be proposed bringing the letting of furnished and unfurnished rooms within the scope of the Profiteering Act, 1919, received careful consideration during the passage of the Profiteering (Amendment) Bill, and my hon. Friend will remember that the House decided that these matters fell more appropriately within the province of rents restriction legislation. I would remind my hon. and gallant Friend that the Increase of Rent and Mortgage Interest (Restrictions) Act, 1920, limits the rent which may be charged for a furnished or unfurnished house or part of a house to which the Act applies.
