HC Deb 29 November 1920 vol 135 c904
29. Mr. HARTLEY DENNISS

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider the advisability of the Chancellor of the Exchequer or the Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury attending the Committee on every Financial Resolution in order that the Committee may be able to ascertain from them the effect of such Resolution on the taxation of the country?

The PRIME MINISTER

Financial Resolutions and the explanatory White Papers presented to the House are approved by the Treasury; and while my right hon. Friends are, of course, at the disposition of the House on any general financial question, I think the explanation of a Department's financial proposals is more properly undertaken by the Ministers representing the particular Department concerned.
