59. Mr. DOYLEasked the Minister of Health if he is aware that the Hexham board of guardians have refused to grant to their relieving officers a bonus in accordance with the awards issued by the Civil Service Arbitration Board and the Whitley Council, and have also refused to submit the question to arbitration; whether these officers, who hold whole-time appointments, are being paid a salary as low as £116, £125, £152, and £183 per annum; and, if so, what action he is prepared to take in the matter?
§ Dr. ADDISONI have twice urged the guardians to submit this question to arbitration, and I am afraid there is no other action which I can take.
