HC Deb 24 November 1920 vol 135 c434
59. Mr. DOYLE

asked the Minister of Health if he is aware that the Hexham board of guardians have refused to grant to their relieving officers a bonus in accordance with the awards issued by the Civil Service Arbitration Board and the Whitley Council, and have also refused to submit the question to arbitration; whether these officers, who hold whole-time appointments, are being paid a salary as low as £116, £125, £152, and £183 per annum; and, if so, what action he is prepared to take in the matter?

Dr. ADDISON

I have twice urged the guardians to submit this question to arbitration, and I am afraid there is no other action which I can take.
