asked the Prime Minister whether a subsidy has been paid from British sources for the Cossack Division in Persia; against what Vote this subsidy is charged; whether it was included in the estimates of any Department, and what is the amount spent so far in this direction?

The PRIME MINISTER

The British subsidy paid to the Cossack Division in Persia since the conclusion of the War amounted to £392,600. The Indian Government made a similar contribution. Provision for the British expenditure was made in the Miscellaneous War Services Estimate presented by the Foreign Office.
