HC Deb 17 November 1920 vol 134 cc1879-80
46. Captain TUDOR-REES

asked the Prime Minister whether and, if so, why it is necessary to keep in force the Juries Act, 1918; and when it is proposed to repeal that statute?

The ATTORNEY-GENERAL (Sir Gordon Hewart)

I am asked to reply to this question. The Statute referred to has effect until a period of six months has elapsed after the termination of the War. The reasons of public time and convenience which caused it to be enacted still continue. It is, however, intended as soon as may be to deal with the matter by legislation, and a Bill for the purpose is at present being considered.
