HC Deb 09 November 1920 vol 134 cc1009-10
81. Colonel YATE

asked the Secretary of State for India whether the five battalions of the Machine Gun Corps now in India are to be disbanded, and, if so, for what reason?

Sir A. WILLIAMSON

My right hon. Friend (Mr. Montagu) has asked me to reply. The answer to the hon. and gallant Member's question is in the affirmative. It has been decided that the Machine Gun Corps, as such, will not form an integral part of the after-War Army.

Colonel YATE

Can the right hon. Gentleman state any reason why this very efficient service is being disbanded?

Sir A. WILLIAMSON

No, I am not able to give the full reasons; they are very good reasons.
