HC Deb 09 November 1920 vol 134 c1005
54. Mr. HURD

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the clearances from bond of cigars from all countries are realising the expectations upon which his Budget proposals were framed; and will he give figures of quantities and values for the first half of the current year?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

It would, I think, be premature at this date to express any opinion upon the revenue to be derived in the current financial year from the duties on imported cigars. My hon. Friend will find figures relating to the quantities and values of cigars imported and to the quantities cleared for home consumption in the monthly accounts of trade and navigation published as a Parliamentary paper.
