Major GLYNasked the Prime Minister whether the present situation in Persia will be considerably improved as soon as adequate and satisfactory arrangements can be made to assist import and export trade between the British Empire and other countries with Persia by way of Basra and south-east Mesopotamia; and whether it is of vital importance, as the first preliminary, that a port trust, representing the chief interests concerned, should be formed at Basra in order that the necessary improvements can be carried out without delay?
