asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that the Disposal Board have for sale in France about 80 miles of 4 feet 8½ inches gauge track, 75 lbs. per lineal yard rails, with 20 sleepers and fastenings complete in excellent condition, very suitable for agricultural light railways; whether this material can be delivered in England at 40 per cent. less than it can be purchased here; and whether, in view of the Government's promise to construct agricultural light railways, this material can be secured for that purpose?

The Ministry of Munitions are at present in communication with the Director-General of Liquidation of British War Stocks in France on the subject of the materials referred to. As soon as the information is available I will communicate further with the hon. Member.
