38. Mr. COWANasked the Secretary for Scotland whether the Scottish Board of Health has issued a circular in which they propose to supersede the system of payment of fees, 5s. per case, to tuberculosis officers for the examination and certification of discharged Navy and Army men, under the Ministry of Pensions, by a system of lump sum payments to local authorities; and whether he will take steps to secure that tuberculosis officers will not be called upon to carry out this difficult and responsible work, out with their statutory duties under local authorities, without adequate remuneration?
§ Mr. MUNROThe answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. I do not anticipate that any tuberculosis officer will be asked to render services in connection with the pensions of tuberculosis ex-service men without adequate remuneration.
