Captain BOWYERasked the Prime Minister, in reference to Command Paper 1032, just issued, why the staffs of the Ministry of Pensions and of the Inland Revenue Department have increased, respectively, to 195 and 312 since 1st September; and what were the additional duties that have necessitated these increases?
§ Mr. BALDWINAs regards the Ministry of Pensions, I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to reply given on the 1st December to a similar question asked by the hon. and learned Member for Ealing. The increase in staff of the Inland Revenue consists almost entirely of ex-service, men temporarily recruited, and is due to new work arising under the Finance Act, 1920.
