CAVENDISH-BENTINCKasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland which provision of the Restoration of Order in Ireland Act is held to authorise the making by Order in Council of the new Regulation 80a, published in the 1416 "London Gazette" of 12th November, empowering the competent naval or military authority to take possession of railways in Ireland and prohibit the carriage of passengers and articles on the said railways?
§ Mr. HENRYRegulation 80 was made under Section 1, Sub-section 1, of the Restoration of Order in Ireland Act, which empowers His Majesty in Council to issue Regulations under the Defence of the Realm Consolidation Act, 1914, for securing the restoration and maintenance of order in Ireland.
