The appointed day for the purposes of this Act shall be the day for the first meeting of the Irish Parliament, or such other day not more than six months earlier or later, as may be fixed by Order of His Majesty in Council either generally or with reference to any particular provision of this Act, and different days may be appointed for different purposes and different provisions of this Act.

Government Amendment:

Leave out the words "day for the first meeting of the Irish Parliament," and insert the words "the first Tuesday in the eighth month after the month in which this Act is passed."—[Mr. Birrell.]
