HC Deb 30 April 1908 vol 187 cc1384-5
MR. HAROLD COX (Preston)

I to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether any of His Majesty's ships are now employed in the defence of Canadian fisheries; and, if so, whether the Canadian Government makes any payment for the services rendered by those ships.

MR. McKENNA

The Canadian Government protect their own fisheries, and His Majesty's ships are not employed on this service.

MR. HAROLD COX

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that quite recently a battleship was employed on this duty?

MR. McKENNA

I can only speak of what takes place at the present moment.

MR. HAROLD COX

When did the change take place?

McKENNA

I must ask for notice. It was some years ago, I think.
