HC Deb 13 April 1888 vol 324 c1198
MR. T. M. HEALY (Longford, N.)

asked the First Lord of the Treasury, If early Notice would be given of the day upon which the Criminal Evidence Bill was to be proceeded with, so that Irish Members who wished to get away might not have to return immediately in order to oppose the Bill? He also wished to know if the measure was intended to be referred to the Standing Committee on Legal Bills?

THE FIRST LORD (Mr. W. H. SMITH) (Strand, Westminster),

in reply, said, that in the absence of the Attorney General he was not at present able to say when the Bill would be taken. His impression was that it would not be referred to a Standing Committee, as the Bill was of a very simple character. Ample Notice would be given of the day which would be fixed for further discussion of the Bill.

MR. T. M. HEALY

Could we have a week's Notice?

MR. W. H. SMITH

I will answer that Question on Monday.
