HC Deb 16 September 2004 vol 424 c1693WS
Mrs. Brooke

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills what plans he has to extend the funding which was available for the purchase of capital equipment for looked-after children and care leavers in 2002–03 and 2003–04 to future years; and what plans there are for alternative funding. [188994]

Mr. Miliband

[holding answer 14 September 2004]: Overall support for capital investment in schools, including buildings and information and communications technology, has risen to £4.9 billion in 2004–05, and will rise to £5.5 billion in 2005–06. Increasingly, we provide this support direct to local authorities, and let them set priorities locally. Looked-after children can benefit from this investment, and we have no plans to extend the specific. Quality Protects Information Technology Grant, which ended in 2003–04.
