HL Deb 16 November 2004 vol 666 c129WA
Lord Jacobs

asked the Chairman of Committees:

Why Questions for Written Answer tabled in this Parliamentary Session and answered after the end of the Session will not be printed in the Official Report, given that such Questions are on public record. [HL4973]

The Chairman of Committees (Lord Brabazon of Tara)

Prorogation puts an end to all business before the House, with limited exceptions which do not include Questions for Written Answer. Where a Question for Written Answer has not been answered at the end of a Session, it can be retabled at the start of the new Session to ensure that the Answer will appear in theOfficial Report.
