Which states, in addition, to the UK, have so far ratified the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety; and whether they know of ratifications by other states which are pending. [HL4582]

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Lord Whitty)

107 states, in addition to the UK and not counting the European Community, have become parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety, through ratification or equivalent instruments such as acceptance, accession or approval.

There are 29 states that have signed the protocol but have not yet become parties to it.
