HL Deb 20 July 2004 vol 664 c35WA
Lord Berkeley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress they have made in the negotiations on the issue whether the Irish Government should pay the full cost of maintaining lighthouses and other navigational aids in Irish territorial waters. [HL3700]

Lord Davies of Oldham

Initial meetings have taken place at official level between the Department for Transport and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and with the Irish Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources. We expect to hold further discussions later this year focusing on the future structure of the GLA service in the island of Ireland. The Northern Ireland Office will also be involved as the dialogue progresses.
