HL Deb 08 April 2003 vol 647 cc20-1WA
Lord Laird

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether there are plans to build a new headquarters for Waterways Ireland in Fermanagh; how much it is projected to cost; and what is the current status of the project. [HL2274]

Lord Williams of Mostyn

It was agreed at the North-South Ministerial Council plenary meeting in December 1999 that Waterways Ireland's headquarters should be located in Enniskillen. Subsequently, with the agreement of the North/South Ministerial Council, Waterways Ireland invited design proposals for the construction of a new headquarters building. The estimated cost of the building is £8 million. Any decision to proceed with this project will be a matter for devolved Ministers when devolution is restored.
