At 29 June 20022 Asylum applicants in detention in England and Wales1 1,355 1 Those recorded as having sought asylum at some stage. 2 Figures are rounded to the nearest five. I regret that information on how many of these persons had not received a final decision on their asylum claim is not available except by examination of individual case files at disproportionate cost.
