HC Deb 26 February 2001 vol 363 c413W
Dr. Tonge

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will list the frequency bands the Government have sold to mobile phone operators in the last 10 years. [150667]

Ms Hewitt

Frequency bands licensed exclusively to the mobile phone operators for which licence fees have been paid in the last 10 years are as follows:

  • MHz
  • 872.0–888.0
  • 890.0–915.0
  • 917.0–933.0
  • 935.0–960.0
  • 1710.0–1785.0
  • 1805.0–1880.0
  • 1899.9–1979.7
  • 2110.3–2169.7.

With the phasing out of analogue mobile the 872–888 and 917–933 MHz blocks are being reassigned for other radio uses including digital mobile services. Mobile operators also have access to some spectrum channels for network fixed links on a shared basis with other radio users.
