HC Deb 12 July 1999 vol 335 c17W
Ms Blears

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions how many replies were received in response to consultation on the draft Local Government (Organisation and Standards) Bill. [90973]

Ms Armstrong

Two hundred and eighty one written responses have been received to consultation on the draft Local Government (Organisation and Standards) Bill, published in the Paper "Local leadership, local choice". Of these, only one has asked to remain confidential. A list of the rest has today been placed in the Library of the House and full copies of these have been made available in my Department's library for public scrutiny. Copies of the responses have also been passed to the Joint Committee which is currently examining the draft Bill.

In addition, 2,351 pre-printed postcards were received as part of a campaign by Charter 88 calling for the use of proportional representation in local government elections. One of these has also been placed in my Department's library.
