To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many recipients of disability living allowance are liable for taxation at(a) the highest, (b) the standard and (c) the basic rate; and what proportion these constitute of all recipients of disability living allowance. [53034]

[holding answer 28 July 1998]: The information requested is given for 1998–99 in the table. It is estimated that there are 2.1 million recipients of disability living allowance in 1998–99. Very few recipients, if any, are liable at the higher rate.
