In the light of the unprecedented rate of expansion of the further education sector after the academic year 1994–95, she has requested the Further Education Funding Council for England to consider what steps are consistent with the containment of total expenditure in future years within the Government's planned levels of expenditure on further education. She will consider the council's advice on the available options when it is received.
